2022 Bounce Back Winner - Bill Soloway
Yardley, PA, local William “Bill” Soloway is one of CKF’s 2022 Bounce Back Give Back winners, who received his life-saving heart transplant in 2015. Post-recovery Bill focused on engaging in an active lifestyle, competing in local events and the US Transplant Games. After receiving his heart from an anonymous donor, Bill has continued to work hard to honor the gift of life they so graciously gave him.
Since day one after his transplant, Bill has been working to support those within the transplant community and promote organ, eye, and tissue donation, taking an active role in many organizations or initiatives. In 2015 Bill became an ambassador and speaker for the Gift of Life Organ Donor Program, a position he continues to play today. Bill has previously won the Gift of Life Donor Program Soapbox Award along with volunteering and being a member of the Gift of Life Family House’s board. Bill partnered with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Transplant Institute to mentor families and patients through individual programs and speaking events. He has continued this idea with his local Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO) chapter to bring a virtual mentoring program to local hospitals.
Bill has been a member of TRIO since 2015 and has served as the TRIO Philadelphia chapter president since 2020. The United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) is another organization Bill has worked with to help promote organ donation as an ambassador and speaker. Finally, Bill has been heavily involved with the Masonic Blood+Organ Donor Program (MB+ODP) as a volunteer, board member, and chairman over the years! Bill is a well-known and well-respected member of the transplant community and is praised for his dedication to each transplant candidate, recipient, or potential organ donor.
An active lifestyle is important to Bill as he regularly competes in local athletic events. He is also a valued member of Team Philadelphia each year for the US Transplant Games winning medals in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2021! Bill has not only been honored in sports but also by winning the American Red Cross 2017 Community Give Life Hero Award, and the 2017 Help Hope Live Help Award. Bill has worked with CareDx on the AlloCare app for transplant patients as a developer and beta tester.
