Dave founded Saturn National Donor Day in 1997 and served as Project Leader over the next decade for America’s largest annual lifesaving donation drive.
Between 1997 and 2006, over 2,000 community Donor Day drives were held on and near Valentine’s Day collecting over 220,000 units of blood, adding over 20,000 potential donors to the National Marrow Donor Registry, and informing millions of the urgent need for organ and tissue donors. Donor Day partners included the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 16 major national non-profit donor organizations, scores of Organ Procurement Organizations, and hundreds of local blood banks.
In other community-oriented services, Quick served as the Marketing Director of the California Science Center (which is receiving the Endeavor Space Shuttle from NASA) and the adjunct California Museum Foundation. In addition to the Chris Klug Foundation, Quick currently serves on the Board of the California-based Wildfire Research Network (which seeks to bolster aerial firefighting assets), and is on the Advisory Board of the non-profit Museum of Neon Art.
